Area Attractions

This area offers many opportunities for the recreational outdoor enthusiast. Hilltop Resort is located in the heart of the Peshtigo River State Forest surrounding High Falls Flowage and we are just a short drive from the Tommy Thompson State Park on Caldron Falls Flowage. We are also just a short distance from the "Roaring Rapids" section of the Peshtigo River as well as the Nicolet National Forest. No mater what the season, there is sure to be something in our area to meet your interests.
Spring is the ideal time to check out the Marinette County Waterfall Tour. They are at their best during the spring run-off. Likewise, whitewater rafting is at its best in the spring when the water is high.

Summer brings boating and fishing opportunities on the Flowages or one of the make small lakes or trout streams in the area. An occasional wildlife sighting is also possible.

There are many events going on in the winter too, including snowmobile radar runs, ice fishing derbys, poker runs and brat frys put on by the local snowmobile clubs. We are right on the Iron Snowshoe Snowmobile Trails, some of the best in the state. There are also several cross country ski trails nearby.

ATV Trails
Marinette County offers approximately 130 miles of ATV trails.

Bicycling
The "Menominee River Century Ride" and the "Tour de Colour" bicycling tours are held annually in June and September respectively. "Marinette County Scenic Bicycle Routes" is available by calling 1-800-236-6681.

Boating
Area waterways offer a variety of boating options with abundant public boat launches on nearby lakes and flowages. Rental of pantoon boats, canoes and fishing boats and motors are available in the immediate area.

Country Music Fest
Lakewood. -Establishing several years ago, this musicfest combines national and local talent.

County Parks
Marinette County maintains 19 county parks, most offering picnic tables, playgrounds, swimming, fishing and hiking.

Cross-Country Skiing
The Marinette County Cross-Country Ski Association provides over 30 miles of trails along the scenic Peshtigo River with varying difficulty for the beginner to advance cross-country ski enthusiast. There are also trails in Crivitz and in the nearby Nicolet National Forest. Equipment rentals are available nearby.

Fall Colorama
From mid-September to mid-October, come see the north woods aflame with color. Visit the Mountain Fire Tower for a spectacular view from above.

Fish Hatchery

Fishing
With 444 lakes and 623 miles of trout streams, this area offers a variety of fishing opportunities, from pan fish to trout and game fish. There is a fly fishing area just south of us on the Peshtigo River and ice fishing is also very popular in this area. Bait shops, boat rentals, marine dealers and guide service are available locally.

Fun Park
Go-Karts, Miniature Golf and Bumper Boats are available at Vacationland Fun Park, located just a few miles away.

Golf
There are several golf courses just a short drive from Hilltop Resort covering a wide range of layouts and difficulty levels, including a top quality course designed by Peter Jacobsen.

Hiking Trails
There are a multitide of established trails in the area both in the National Forest and on Marinette County Parks & Forest lands.

Hunting
Our area offers both gun and bow season. Species include white tail deer, bear, wild turkey, grouse, woodcock and small game. There are hundreds of thousands of acres of public land nearby that is open to hunters.

Mountain Fire Tower
The lookout tower in Mountain offers a spectacular view of the surrounding forests, especially during fall color.

Museums
The local Historical Society presents the Crivitz Area Museum Located nearby are the Crivitz Area Museum, the Peshtigo Fire Museum and Logging Museums in Marinette and Wabeno.

Nation Forest
The Nicolet National Forest borders the western edge of Marinette County, offering unique recreational opportunities to the outdoor enthusiast.

Rustic Road Tour
We are located right on Parkway Road, Wisconsin Rustic Road #32, ideal for both car and bicycle touring.

Shopping
This area offers an abundance of antique and gift shops as well as art galleries and specialty shops for the avid treasure hunter.

Snowmobiling
Area snowmobile clubs offer well maintained trails throughout the area. We are right on Iron Snowshoe Snowmobile Trail with over 100 miles of trails throughout the flowage area and beyond.

State Park & Forest
The Governor Thompson State Park encompasses the southern shore of Caldron Falls Flowage, and the Peshtigo River State Forest covers about 9,000 acres around Caldron and High Falls Flowage.

Swimming
There are a variety of public parks and beaches in the surrounding area.

Water Ski Shows
The Twin Bridge Ski Club performs on a regular basis in the summer right on High Falls Flowage.

Waterfall Tour
Marinette County is the Waterfall Capitol of Wisconsin. Many of them are easily accessible via county parks or forest lands that are yours to explore. - Map available.

Whitewater Rafting
Local outfitters offer guided trips on the Peshtigo River and the Menominee River.
